THE LINDSAYAN STRING QUARTET
Founded in 1993, the Lindsayan String Quartet has quickly gained
recognition at international festivals in North and South America for its
"intense and emotional" performances.
Members of the quartet have attended world renowned schools
including The Juilliard School, the Paris Conservatoire, The Curtis
Institute of Music, and the Florida State University.  The ensemble has
held two prestigious residencies in the United States.  From 1995 to 1997,
the quartet was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Chamber Music
Rural Residency, to teach and perform affiliated with Western Kentucky
University and the Bowling Green community.  Since 1998 the LSQ has been in
residence in Midland-Odessa, Texas, in association with the Midland-Odessa
Symphony and Chorale.  In addition to their busy concert schedule, members
of the quartet have taught at Western Kentucky University, and are
currently on the music faculties of Midland College in Texas, and the
Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.
During the 1994-1995 season, the quartet released a compact disc
which included works by award winning American composers for the CRS label.
In 1998, as a result of the much sought after Theodore Presser Award, the
Lindsayan String Quartet premiered and recorded works of renowned Bolivian
composers.  In addition to frequent live television appearances in West
Texas, the quartet has performed on NPR and PBS in the United States, as
well as Bolivian national radio and television.
Most recently, the quartet was chosen as one of the select touring
ensembles by the Texas Commission on the Arts for the 2001-2002 seasons.
Highlights of the upcoming season include performances at the
Interlochen Center for the Arts, The Midwest Arts Conference, and a collaboration with violist Sally Chisholm of the Pro Arte String Quartet.
