Recent Events 12/05 - Shana's Mango! performs at the Somerville Public Library for the kids! 10/02 - 50 musicians come together in St Louis to record "Star of Love", an opera in two acts for an audience of children. Steve Kveton and I wrote this during 1997-2003. 10/22 - First words actually typed for my dissertation on Morton Feldman. I final decide on a specific topic and have really begun. Really. no really. 9/06 - Teaching starts again at Franklin Pierre College and Boston Conservatory. This semester I am teaching 6 courses. Wow, i need a full time job, so i don't have to teach so much! When the hell am I going to composer, or right my dissertation? 8/28 - ROAD TRIP with Emily to the south and the coast. I learn to surf! 8/10 - Think it is a good idea to start a blog, but realize I should just stop procrastinating and get the parts for my opera done! 7/14 - Host a panel discussion on mashups and appropriation in Art. This is part of my work with the Somerville Arts Council. I bought a suit. It was rad. June 05 - I take a two hour show and a four hour nap. Emily joins me. 5/2 - "Love's Labour's Lost" opens tonight. This is Shakespeare seen through the songs and images of the Rat Pack and the Marx Brothers. Very cool show. I soon realize after this that i need to take the next year off from theatre so I can have some hope in finishing my dissertation! 4/30 - Shana's Mango! performed at the Nave Art Gallery In Somerville MA. Pancakes where enjoyed by all. 4/23 - Non-Zero played "Being and Becoming" at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City. 4/14/05 - "Luna" was performed at SEAMUS by Brian Sacawa. 4/2/05 - Non-Zero played "Being and Becoming" at Eastern Nazarene College. 4/1/05 - "A Bright room called Day" opens today at Zero Church streat. Scott Zigler is directing. I am doing the sound design. 3/18/05 - "Being and Becoming" was played at the Boston Cneter for the Arts as part of a Devil Music concert. Laura rocked it good to the 100 plus people at this event. 3/17/05 - "The Illusion" opened tonight at the Piano Factory. Sarah Friedberg directed. I did the sound design. 3/9/05 - Today I met the mayor of Someville about my appointment to the Somerville Arts Council. 3/2/05 - Shana's Mango! Played at the Zeitgeist Gallery as part of a Rocknroll fashion show. 2/11/05 - "The Bacchai" was presenetd today for the ART. What a campy and cool show this was. Kevin Kuhlke directed. This show is going to be mounted in Moscow in a few weeks as part of the ART Institutes yearly moscow show. Have fun Dina! 1/21/05 - Classes start again next week. I am teaching Computer Music II and two sections of Recording Techniques at Franklin Pierce College, and two sections of ear training II at The Boston Conservatory. 1/20/05 - "Benno Blimpie" Opened Tonight. This show is pretty F*cked up and wonderful. Marcus Stern Directed and he rocks! 12/31/04 - Shana's Mango! rocked in the new year at the New Neighborhood. 12/2/04 - "Trojan Women" opened tonight. This was my second sound design gig for the A.R.T. I think i am getting the hang of it. 11/22/04 - Finished "Being and Becoming" for Baritone Sax and Percussion. The concert is on Dec 9th in Michigan. Tim and Brian: Sorry to cut it so close!! 9/28/04 - Started work as Sound Designer for a collection of Beckett shorts being done at A.R.T. Sam Weisman directed. 9/26/04 - The premier of Shana's Mango! Peter Gilbert and I got our rocknroll shit together and played a fun show at Kristin Thomson's Art opening. We sung about the 80's, freckles on butts, too many x-gfs and burning down chicken coops. Then we went out for taco's 9/9/04 - First day of teaching electronic music at Franklin Pierce College. There was an administrative mix up, so the students went to one room while I waited in another room to teach them. Well, I guess we will start next week... 9/8/04 - First day of teaching ear training at Boston Conservatory. I came straight from driving all night back from NYC all jacked up on crap coffee and pizza with too much cheese. 9/7/04 - Laura Harrison played my solo bass clarinet piece "Being and Becoming" in New York City at a place called The Remote Lounge. It is right near Joey Ramone Square. RIP 7/8/04 - Got a tattoo at the Blue Lotus in Madiosn Wisconsin while on a road trip to bring my good friend Mike Boyle to the west for new adventures. June 04 - Steve Kveton and I signed away the rights for our children's opera "Star of Love" to MMB Music. Now all we need is for someone with some money to realize that this opera is as good as we think it is. June 04 - Traveled to June in Buffalo on my motorcycle to present a new 8 channel piece called "Being and Becoming". I think I may just call all my pieces this from now on. Roger Reynolds said that "he normally doesn't like funny music," but he said my piece is "really funny," so he likes it. I reviewed the festival for Composers on Line, if you want to know more...
