The LOCS for LIFE Network is a conscious community of hairlocking specialists who love to loc (some love to braid and twist too). It exists as a community resource for those looking for hairlocking services such as twist method, palmroll, locksmything, natural interlocking, crochet, latchhook, lockstitiching, Traditional locks, Nubian locs, Sisterlocks®, Brotherlocks®, VersiLocsTM, etc. Many of the specialists have gone the extra mile to achieve formal training and certification. The LOCS for LIFE Network was conceived in February 2007 by Maevette L. Allen-Brooks (aka Mae Brooks), Certified LocArtTM and Sisterlocks® / Brotherlocks® Consultant. It is based in Chicago, IL and will branch out in the near future.
As a lecturer and demonstrator, Mae has facilitated workshops for organizations such as the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier and ChAHNHA (Chicago Chapter of the American Hairbraiders and Natural Haircare Association). Mae has been published in the Chicago Reader and has an extensive contribution in the newly released book entitled Natural:The Beautiful 'N' Word by Richard O. Jones. She continues to teach classes and will produce seminars, tradeshows, and other networking avenues for professionals and consumers worldwide.
