| Shaggy, edgy leading lady who has created a niche for
herself in Hollywood movies, playing characters that endure in spite of
un- usual hardships-most notably Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom she battled
in The Terminator. Hamilton began her career as a child actress, working
in local Maryland productions before moving on to the Strasberg Institute
in New York, where she studied with director Nicholas Ray. After an
appearance on the soap opera "Search for Tomorrow," Hamilton con
cluded that Hollywood was where she needed to be to further her career.
She landed movie-of-the-week roles in such fare as Secrets of a Mother and
Daughter (1983) and Club Med (1986) before earning a starring part in a
modestly budgeted sci-fi actioner called The Terminator in 1984. That
picture's surprise success landed Hamilton in other films of the
scifi/horror genre, including Children of the Corn (1984), Black Moon
Rising and King Kong Lives (both 1986), and on the popular TV series
"Beauty and the Beast" (1987-90) which was her best-known work
prior to release of the 1991 Terminator sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day
In 1994 she costarred in Silent Fall. |
