From LTC Martindale, 1SG Widrick, and 1SG Harmon---Hello Cadets and Parents. It is time for District Inspection again. Tomorrow is the big day, November 21st. We have prepared and should be ready to go.! It has been a good, but peculiar year. Hurricane Ike took a toll, but we bounced back and we will keep moving forward. The Rifle Team is continuing their winning ways coming in #2 Overall in the first Marksmanship competition, and the Unarmed Drill Team was #2 Overall, winning 13 trophies. We finally got the chance to march in the Fiestas Patrias Parade on November 15th, rescheduling after the Hurricane. During our last Parent Club Meeting, we had a great time having our annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner. The food was excellent and over 100 parents and cadets atttended. We discussed the Food Drive that JROTC is doing to donate can goods for Thanksgiving to the Star of Hope Shelter. We have a truckload collected already. We also discussed our Service Learning Projects of having a Toy Drive and Pajama/Hygiene Drive for the kids at the DePelchin Children's Center. For the first time ever, we will take a team to the Bayou City Skills Meet at Willowridge High School. Our Marksmanship Rifle Team and the Unarmed Drill teams will compete December 6th at that Competition. Soon after that event, it will be time to prepare for the endo of the semester final exams and our long awaited Christmas Break.
