| 1er Regiment des Grenadiers a Pied de la Garde Imperiale | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The First Regiment of Foot Grenadiers was officially formed on December 2, 1799 as the Consular Guard. As Napoleon rose to emperor, the Consular Guard became the Imperial Guard. The Foot Grenadiers represented the heart of Napoleon's Old Guard. They served until the last beat of the drums on the fields of Waterloo in 1815. Many former members of the Old Guard moved to New Orleans, Alabama, and other parts of America after Napoleon's final exile. Our unit seeks to recreate these famous grenadiers and looks forward to serving the Emperor in future campaigns. |
