Mounting stress gives Dawn cause to question her marriage. Bob is rocked by
a shocking revelation about Viv. Betty worries about the intentions of
Edna's new lodger.
Eithne's Review Monday, 17th March 2003
The wedding storyline took centre stage, with a couple of crises and a
revelation.
The first crisis was that poor Alan wasn’t able to be Terry’s best man
at the wedding the following day. Dawn suggested that terry try Chris, as Bob
wouldn’t budge. Terry reluctantly tried Chris and Chris said yes. They dashed
of to make the rehearsal and made it in time. But trouble was already brewing
at the church with Jean winding up Viv. Viv didn’t know about Steph letting
Jean in on Viv’s secret.
As they practiced walking down the aisle, Bob realised that he couldn’t
let Dawn marry Terry. Once again he tried to make her see his point of view,
but she wouldn’t have it. Terry arrived on the scene and comforted Dawn. She
was having doubts, but another proposal from Terry made her change her mind and
she decided to marry Terry.
The revelation was of Viv’s one night stand with Matti, the chauffer.
Jean and Bob were arguing over their daughter’s impending nuptials and Bob said
that “he wished he’d met Viv when he was eighteen.” Jean wasn’t too happy about
this and said that at least she had been faithful, before the details of Viv’s
cheating were revealed.
Elsewhere:
Edna and ‘Mack were on a first name basis. They were getting on well
with Mack, or should that be Jerry, fixing one of Edna’s doors. Betty was
amused to see that Edna had taken in Mack.
Diane considered having a lion dancing night in the Woolpack and soon
Jack had everything organised.
Louise was worried about Terry marrying Dawn.
The Marsden family supported the village’s economy by having a meal in
the Woolpack and buying their shopping in the shop.

Mack sets
tongues wagging
Edna’s new lodger is making himself comfortable, but when she makes it
clear that the charity will not extend longer than three days Mack decides
to do some DIY ‘on the house’. When Betty witnesses Mack leaving
Edna’s place she revels in gossiping about the new friendship.
Louise has a chat with Terry about his pending marriage to Dawn hoping to get
to the bottom of it once and for all. When Terry reiterates that he only has
feelings for Dawn, she feels convinced that he’s getting married for
the right reasons.
After being let down by his best man, Terry calls on his employer Chris Tate
to help out. Despite their past differences the hard man tells a surprised
Terry that he would be delighted and honoured.
Bob tries one last time to persuade his daughter not to marry
Terry. At the church rehearsal the prospect of giving Dawn away to a man more
than twice her age is just too much to bear. So after telling Dawn that Terry
does not really love her, he storms off leaving Dawn to give herself away.
Jean and Viv are at each other’s throats all day long. Finally, after
a day of innuendoes, Jean decides to spill the beans to a stressed Bob about
his wife’s infidelity. Bob is left stunned by the news that it was Viv,
not Steph, who had a one-night stand with a limo driver.
Chris agreed to be Terry's best man. Diane and Jack decided to organise a barn dance. Jean told Bob about Viv's one-night stand. ITV 1 Monday
Monday 17th March Dawn was wracked with pre-wedding nerves -
as was Bob, who was eager to split up the bride and groom.
But Bob's concern faded when Jean decided to tell him about Viv's infidelity
with the limo driver.
Louise was also worried that Terry was getting married for the wrong reasons
and confronted him.
Betty revelled in gossip over Edna's new friendship with her lodger, Mack.

Review
As Terry and Dawn's big day arrives, Bob struggles to do the right thing. Edna
is irritated by the cynicism of her friends in questioning her decision to
take Mack in.
Eithne's Review Tuesday, 18th March 2003
The wedding day arrived, but a rather rocky wedding it was. Bob
confronted Diane over Jean’s revelation and she confirmed that Viv had slept
with Matti on Tricia’s hen night. Viv was unaware that Bob knew about her one
night stand and was puzzled as to where he was, but Jean continued with her
little mind games.
Dawn and Terry arrived for their wedding, but Bob was still nowhere to
be seen. This worried Dawn, but eventually she decided to walk down the aisle
by herself. The wedding started.
But Bob decided to stop the wedding and confront Viv over her fling. He
walked into the church and the guests were amused as he tried to stop the
wedding. But when he spotted Viv things really started to get better. Bob
confronted her and the whole church was amazed to learn of her infidelity.
An angry Bob stormed out of the church and Viv followed. But outside
Matti stood, waiting for Dawn and Terry as he had been hired as a surprise for
them by the wicked witch – Jean. Bob punched Matti and then Viv walked back
into the church.
Around the village:
The only other story to get a look in during tonight’s episode was the
Mack and Edna one. Jarvis, trying to be a good friend, got more than he
bargained for when he tried to tell Edna that Mack was up to no good. Edna
wouldn’t listen though.

Bob's disappearing act makes Viv feel wretched. Edna and Mack make a more solid
arrangement. Nicola delights Laurel with a promotion.
Eithne's Review Wednesday, 19th February 2003
Jean was sticking her knives (and I mean knives) into Viv, following the
interruption at the wedding. Viv thought that Diane had revealed all to Bob,
but Viv became angry when she discovered it was Jean, who had gotten the
information from Steph. After finding out this Viv marched around to the
antiques barn.
Donna was struggling at the shop, with Viv literally bursting into tears
every five minutes. Donna had to bribe Betty into keeping her mouth shut over
the fact that she couldn’t get her pension. Viv left message after message on
Bob’s phone, but Donna discovered it behind the counter.
Later a brawl erupted between Viv and Jean, which had to be split up by
Terry, Donna and Dawn. Dawn got a call and they figured out that Bob was at the
zoo. Terry decided that he should go and talk to Bob and that was it.
Elsewhere in the village:
Dawn and Terry settled into married life, although she was worried that
she mightn’t see Bob for a couple of years, and by then he would have moved
onto Mrs. Hope number five or six.
Mack and Edna were still getting on very well. He was looking for a
flat, but seemed to exaggerate the prices just a little. He decided that he
would have to sell some of his assets – his tools. The kind hearted and caring
Christian Edna decided that he could stay once she found out this.
Wilf was planning to leave farming in the autumn. He was talking to
Jack, saying that he wanted Stephen to make something of himself. Andy was
considering taking over Wilf’s farm and turning it organic.
Diane barred both Jean and Steph, following their part in hurting Bob.
But later Diane had to relent.
Betty wasn’t all that sure about Nicola’s involvement in Laurel’s
cleaning business. Laurel got promoted to the role of Hygiene Supervisor after
asking Nicola about Betty’s uncomfortable feelings.

Review
Mack makes himself more and more at home at Edna's. Rodney finds his new tenant
cramps his style. Stephen and Andy have differing opinions over their career
choices.
Eithne's Review Thursday, 20th March 2003
Again the aftermath of the wedding was the major story. Terry arrived at
the zoo and started talking to Bob. But soon the two of them were fighting.
After an ultimation, and a little emotional blackmail, Bob decided to return
with Terry.
Back in the village Bob didn’t want to see Viv and instead went to the
pub. Donna was upset when he said that he only came back to say goodbye to
Dawn. After talking to Dawn, Bob decided to stay.
And in other parts of the village:
Paddy was angry about Nicola’s new business venture taking up too much
of her time at the vet’s, especially after he couldn’t get through to the
vet’s. Nicola hired her old flame Robert to distribute flyer’s about the
business. He wasn’t too sure though so she had to up her pay.
Rodney was stuck in the middle between the sparring housemates Nicola
and Steph. Nicola was later moving in with Rodney at Mill Cottage, although she
did have to leave some of her things behind at Steph’s. Steph wasn’t happy that
her place was being used as a storage unit and demanded Nicola remove her
things.
Mack was having trouble at Edna’s as he and Tootsie weren’t best of
friends.
Stephen put his foot in it with Andy, saying how nice Katie was. But
they later made up.
And finally the village’s resident hygiene supervisor, Laurel, was
talking to herself as she pretended to be boss of different people, much to
Betty’s amusement.

Viv is glad to see the back of Jean. Steph discovers her holy grail. Wilf's
struggle makes Stephen realise where his priorities must lie.
Eithne's Review Friday, 21st February 2003
Bob had stayed at the Woolpack, but got an early morning visit from
Jean. She invited him back to Spain but he turned her down. She then said
goodbye to Dawn and Terry. Viv was depressed, as was Donna, although Viv later
visited Bob at the Woolpack. They didn’t get anywhere or resolve their
differences though.
Steph found a valuable antique which had been stolen in the 1930’s at
the antiques barn. She was quick to tell Rodney that it wasn’t worth that much.
Rodney was still going to get it valued though. Later Steph invited her friend
Paul to the barn and he valued the piece at £200,000. They decided to split the
profit 50:50. Steph was delighted that her retirement home seemed to be edging
closer.
Pollard realised that there would be an election for his job for mayor.
He was upset to learn that Harry Ledbetter was planning to run. Later he
discovered how empty his diary was after April.
Lion dancing took the village by storm, with Elaine and Donna having
their eyes on Stephen, but Katie seemed to be getting in their way. Later Wilf
phoned to tell Stephen that one of the sheep was having a difficult birth. Any
volunteered to go instead.
Also enjoying themselves at the lion dancing was Debbie. Lisa invited
her to tea at the Dingle’s so they could go through her extensive family
together.
