240SX
The Next Project
August 2006 -
Updated pictures of the S13, click here!
Here's my 240SX on the day I brought it home in August 2003.  It had a completely blown suspension, mostly bald tires, a non-running engine, some worrisome rust issues, and a pretty scary-smelling interior (according to my wife that is).  I put a lot of money in the engine to get it running in October, and in December I swapped a completely new suspension and wheels and tires onto it.  Now it's safe to drive, so things are going to get serious...

The car came with Nissan's KA24E motor.  It's a 2.4-liter I4 SOHC cast-iron lump that can only charitably be called an engine.  I can't think of anything nice to say about it right now; it's got torque but runs completely out of breath at 4500 RPM.  My future plans are based around an SR20DET, which is what should have come in the car in the first place...
Here's a picture with the new suspension, wheels, and tires on the car:

The car has had the first bit of rust repair it will need.  The front strut towers are now clean and strong enough to swap the engine - BRING IT ON!!!

Additionally, the car is now wearing front and rear strut braces.  These did wonders for chassis rigidity; much better results than when I installed braces on my SE-R.

Finally, for a bit of bling, I installed OEM cupholders (yes, they do exist) and a JET-brand steering wheel, black with red stitching.  It's a lot fatter and more comfortable than the stocker.

More pics to come!
Update: July 2005

Well, it's been quite a long time since I've updated this page.  I've been through several different jobs and a very long swap process with the S13.  It started in July of 2004 and underwent a heart transplant from the crappy KA24E to the tiny but mighty SR20DET.  The swap, which was planned to take about two weeks, took three months, mostly due to problems sourcing an engine and problems with the wiring harness being modified by someone who was allegedly competent to do so (NOT me, if you're wondering).

At any rate, below you'll find a current mod list.  Upcoming plans include a different set of electric fans, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and pressure gauge, new stock brakes with Axxis Ultimate pads, and finally bodywork.

On a side note - currently the exterior of the car is essentially as you see it above, but the engine bay is much tidier...
