Intro
Starting Out - When you begin your adventure in Loterra You will found yourself  lost naked and poor in a strange village named Tipo. The first thing to do is find and talk to Tom who likes to help out new adventurers. If you do him a small favour he will reward and give you some useful advice about your class. You may feel weak and timid at the start but keep training and you will reach greatness and perhaps leave your mark in (world name) forever!

Note for BYOND vets - This game is entirely 100% verb free and played solely through the mouse keyboard and on screen interface. For this reason it would be a good idea to read through this help section a bit. However the controls are similar to most MMRPGs and I hope will be easy to use and more of a pleasure than your average BYOND experience.

Classes
Warrior - The Warrior starts out with the greatest advantage as he is able to fend for himself quite well without any spells and minimal equipment. However when he has just begun his journey he is more of a wild man than a finely tuned killing machine. The Warrior holds the greatest physical defense, attack and health. Through training and study he is able to master various techniques to aid him in battle.

Wizard - The fledgling Wizard will encounter some difficulty until he has mastered his first spells. However his ability to damage enemies is greater than all the other classes. His frail body leaves him vulnerable to attack and he is best left to stand back and let his magic do the work. He holds the greatest magical force and defense.

Beast Tamer - The beast tamer is fairly apt in the art of hand to hand combat, however he really comes into play through the use of various beasts he has tamed which he can have attack his enemies, defend him and heal him. He will learn various skills to aid his beasts and himself in attack.

Control System
Movement - Your character can be moved in two different ways. One is the more traditional style of BYOND using either the arrow keys or num pad. The other is through the mouse, which is just as simple, click in the direction you wish to move. For using certain spells and other situations it is advised you learn to use the mouse as proficiently as you use the num pad or arrow keys. An example being whilst using fireball having one hand on the mouse at all times and being able to move is vital to target your enemy and both run away at the same time.

Using skills - Before skills can be used they must be set to an F key. you can do this by clicking the small button with an "S" on it on the left hand side of the screen. After having set a skill to an F key you are able to use it, for further details on what skills are available and how they work refer to the skills section.

Attacking Enemies - To attack an enemy simply click on them and your character will attack. To use most damage type spells move the mouse over the enemy and press the F key which corresponds to your spell.

Speaking and Chat - To speak in Loterra press the space bar which brings up a text box. There are special commands which allow you to either whisper to another player, shout and be heard further away or talk to people in your guild. To shout put an "!" before your message you will not be able to shout again for a short period of time. To whisper to a player put a "/" before the players name and then a space and then the message in the format "/playername message" This will send a private message to that player. To talk to your entire guild put an "@" before your message.

Items - To use or equip an item double click it. single click for a description of the item. To drop an item drag it onto the game screen from the "inven" panel.

Trading - You can trade items and gold with other players. To do this firstly you must ensure your player is set to "attack monsters only" to do this press the "A" button repeatedly until you get the message "attack monster only" Next you must stand next to another player and double click him/her to initiate the trade. For now you can trade one item and any amount of gold. This may change in the future.

Interface
The interface for Loterra is designed to be as user friendly as possible. Rather than using the more traditional approach of using verbs to carry out actions in game all actions are carried out through the keyboard mouse and on-screen Interface (see below). The red globe in the left bottom of the screen indicates your health. The blue globe in the right bottom indicates mana. The bar running along the bottom part of the on screen interface indicates your experience. When it is full (entirely white) your character will gain a level and various stats. Your Inventory and stats are displayed in the panels below the user screen.
