The myth of getting a second mortage to have some fun on the satellites is no longer true, and it never was. There are a number of satellites than can be worked even with a hand held radio and a 19 inch whip antenna. Ignorance is our worst enemy. I am not an expert nor do I have mechanical inclinations and even I was able to built some high gain helicals antennas that are yielding some fantastic results.

Lately I have become very interested on the polar orbiting and geostationary NOAA satellites, another faucet that can be part of our great hobby. There are some great software packages that take advantage of our computer sound cards and allow us to view images, experiment with digital/fuzzy modes and reviving some old technology. I will try to givr you some links to those exciting modes and if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to drop me a line.
