Caving Knots

This site is dedicated to some of the most important knots to know when caving. If you are a novice caver, please practice these knots over and over BEFORE trying them while caving. I hope that it goes without saying that caving is extremely dangerous (but also very rewarding!) Do not get in the field and decide to try out a new knot! You should be able to tie these knots in your sleep before you ever stake your life on one! If you don't have a good pocket guide to knots, print out this page and take it with you! Even after you have practiced a knot many times, it is a good idea to look at a guide the first couple of times you use one for real. I have a high level of confidence in these knots, but please don't mistake this site for a professional guide.
