The Town of Knippa served by the Texas and New Orleans Railraod since 1882. This area was settled in 1887 by George Knippa. A freighter who worked between east Texas and Mexico. Knippa also encouraged many friends to move to the fertile land of this county. In 1899 Gold Mining was tried here by an aged, white bearded stanger know as wilson. In 1900 the community acquired a post office and in 1909 a town was laid out. Previously called Chatfield, it was renamed Knippa. The Trap Rock Mine, a stone and gravel business which started in 1913 is still in operation today. This marker is dated 1969.
I wanted to create a non-profit page for the town of Knippa because they seem to have no wepage presence. All of the buisiness listed on this page only appear because they are in the town of Knippa, not because they paid for the spot. If you find that I left a business out, please let me know by email so I can add it. I am also hoping you will give me some suggestions on my two other webpages.
