Chow Orchid Propagation
We provide orchid
seed propagation and
Phalaenopsis stem
propagation services.
No hastle-no gamble on your part.
You pay nothing until your order is ready to be shipped.
We will culture your orchid seeds from either green pods or from dry seeds. Green pods are seed pods that are harvested at the time at which the seeds mature, but before the seed pod splits. Due to contamination the success rate is much higher with green pods.
Orchids we will propagate from your seedpod and the approximate time to harvest the green pod are given below. The times given may vary considerably, they
are meant to only serve as a rough guide.
It is recommended you seek resource material for your particular orchid. The longer the pod stays on the plant the
better the yield of seedlings, but once the pod opens
the yield may decrease drastically.

We will establish several “mother jars” (or flasks upon request) from your seeds, unless
larger numbers are requested. You can
purchase one or more of the “mother jars” containing small plants that will
need to be replated. Please be advised that
sterile conditions are required for replating. Containers of replated
plants will contain larger seedlings and will generally number at least 25
seedlings. You should indicate whether
you want “mother jars” or replated seedlings and approximately how many when
you send in you seed pod, although there will be time to change your mind.
For best results send in stems just after the first flower has opened, although we can also establish stem props from stems after they’ve finished blooming. We generally get at least one plant from a stem, but this varies with the particular mother plant. Also the number of viable nodes will vary depending in part on when you’ve harvested the stem.
Shipping Your Seedpods or Phalaenopsis Stems.
Phalaenopsis stems - You should cut the stem ~1 to
1.5 inches away from the first node, if possible. Put candle wax on each end of your stem to
prevent from drying. Wrap the stem in paper
and send it in a protected envelope or box.
If you place the stem in a plastic bag, leave it open to the air.
Please check you material for insects.
You may assign a code to your seed pod or Phalaenopsis stem. Put one seed pod or stem per envelope or plastic bag, and label on the outside.
We can only accept materials shipped within the
continental
