Mayday Text & Noise Celebration @ Asterisk:

The TEXT & NOISE May Day Celebration will incorporate live sound/ theater poetry performances and video installation soundscapes with a gallery full of paintings, photography, collage and sound pieces all dependent on the use of text.

Doors open at 3pm, $5 door fee to raise money for the printing costs of the next issues of ALTAR MAGAZINE & DIRTY POP

Rasp Thorne - from New Orleans: A Harlequin clown street performance (10 minutes)
Seth Fragomon - "I Don't Know Where I Am Because I Don't Know Where I've Been" - sound poetry (10 minutes)
Micheal Whalen - text against mechanical industrial noise (10 min.)
Aaron Kiely- Performance Poetry Painting w/ accompaniment by AC-DC, Boston, Micheal Jackson & Chic (8 Min.)

Harris Smith - "Untitled Super 8 Films of NYC, Washington D.C. & San Francisco" - runs for 1 hour, Idea: Play in fragments in between pieces
Cat Tyc - Speed Freaks Do Bach-14 min. 39 sec.
Noel Salzman/ Brian Nishi's Adapatation of William Shakespeare/ Kathy Acker's version of "The Merchant of Venice" - 25 minutes.
Jon Keith Brunelle (www.psychathenia.com) Performing a few live video/text performances that he has originally performed at his regular series at Galapagos from "The Psychathenia Society" series
Betsy Andrews performing "New Jersey" : a growing serial poem that takes about 12 minutes to perform. Projected video footage from the NJ Turnpike with simultaneous playback of a recorded sound collage from the Turnpike and live drum accompaniment.
Latasha Diggs performing her poetics w/ a variety of electrical accompaniments

10pm+ : BROKLYN BEATS CREW: DJ sets by Criterion and Doily (www.broklynbeats.net)

From Manhattan, make your way to the L-Train to Brooklyn. Exit the subway at Montrose Avenue and walk South (slightly downhill) on Bushwick 1 block until you hit Johnson Avenue. Turn left onto Johnson and walk one block to 258. If traveling after dark, look for the illuminated asterisk.

From Manhattan, take the Williamsburg Bridge at Delancey Street onto the Queens-bound BQE. Exit onto Humboldt Street and head south (0.4 miles), make a left onto Grand Street (2 blocks), a right on Bushwick (0.6 miles), and a left onto Johnson (1 block) until you see 258. If traveling after dark, look for the illuminated asterisk.
