Tarrant County, Texas Bird Checklist - Page 1

This checklist is published by the Fort Worth Audubon Society, and was compiled by Carl B. Haynie, November 1992.  There have been some recent taxonomic changes since this checklist was published. "Solitary Vireo" has split into Blue-headed, Cassin's, and Plumbeous Vireos. In Tarrant County, only Blue-headed occurs. "Rufous-sided Towhee" has been split into Eastern and Spotted Towhees. Spotted Towhee is common in Tarrant County in winter, while Eastern Towhee is more uncommon. "Northern Oriole" has been split into Baltimore and Bullock's Oriole. Baltimore and Bullock's are both regular migrants and local nesters. House Finch is listed as a rare summer visitor, but in recent years they have become common year round and nest regularly. White-winged Dove is listed as having only three records, but sightings of this species are becoming increasingly common, and should be listed as common.
