Hello, and welcome to this project's home page. As part of my English degree at The University of Georgia, I have created this website as a resource about Mark Twain's book The Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc.
This site contains essays on the book and Victorian culture, including a short biography, a list of links, a reception study, a consideration of Victorian women, and a peice about how this project came about and the implications of online editing. There is also, of course, a bibliography.
The digitized text of Personal Recollections is hosted by the University of Georgia Digital Library, and can be found here.
There are many people to thank for their help and involvement in this project. Firstly, I am grateful to Dr. Alice Kinman for putting me in touch with Dr. Barbara McCaskill, and to Dr. McCaskill for giving generously of her time and talents to help this project become what it is. I owe a great deal to her insight and thoughfulness. I would also like to thank Bob Kobres with the University of Georgia’s Digital Library for scanning the text and teaching me how to annotate. Thanks also to Charlie Pitts for helping me to find a server to host the pages.
