| Dr. House Full name: Gregory House, MD Gender: Male Age: 46 (estimate) Birthday: December 11, 1959 Height: 6'3" Weight: 150 lbs (?) Hair color: Brown Eye color: Blue Build: a teeny bit on the flabby side due to his inablility to really exercise. Occupation: Board Certified Doctor/Diagnostician Medical Specialty: Infectious disease, Nephrology, diagnostician Alma Mater: Johns Hopkins (expelled after cheating), University of Michigan (received his MD) Years as a doctor: more than twenty Mother: Blythe House Father: John House Sibling(s): None Place of Birth: Unknown, somewhere in the US, he says he was born in a log cabin in Illinois (jokingly) Place of Residence: Apartment #221B Princeton, New Jersey Work place: Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital Friends: Dr. James Wilson of the Oncology Department Vehicle: A Honda CBR1000RR with Rhepsol replica paint job and optional cane holder. Has a scrape down the side from the previous owner, reason for how cheap it was. Shoes: Nike Shoxs and Chuck Taylors Temperament: Stubborn, arrogant, seemingly cold hearted. Gets impatient often and has been known to raise his voice out of anger. He sneers at those who don't know something he does. Background: He went to John Hopkins University for his MD and undergraduate(?). He has been a doctor for over twenty years and has become the Head of the Diagnostic Department. He has a double specialty of Infectious Diseases and Nephrology. He has been through three regime changes at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, so he has probably been at the hospital since he graduated college. Some years ago he suffered an infarction in his right leg, causing him to go through surgery and he still has not healed from it. He explains to a patient what happened: Patient: What made you a cripple? House: I had an infarction. Patient: A heart attack? House: It's what happens when the blood flow is obstructed. If it's in the heart it's a heart attack. If it's in the lungs it's a pulmonary embolism. If it's in the brain it's a stroke. I had it in my thigh muscles Patient: Wasn't there anything they could do? House: There was plenty they could do, if they made the right diagnosis, but the only symptom was pain. Not many people get to experience muscle death. He is considered to be an "Insensitive bastard" as Cameron called him, and often skirts clinic duty. If he does take a case, he keeps his distance from the patients as much as possible with his excuse that a doctor's job is to treat an illness, that they aren't treating patients. He is addicted to Vicodin, and he even admitted it. But he refuses to stop, saying he doesn't have a problem. He functions. Though when the pain got worse, it caused Cuddy to think its in his head, that his leg defines him. He also seems a bit distant from his parents, saying he doesn't like his father but likes his mother. His excuse? His father is too honest. Its hard to get past his tough exterior, as he is a very complicated man, having withdrawn into himself after Stacy left him following his surgery. *SPOILERS* Last season in "No Reason" House was shot by a former patient, once in the neck and once in the abdomen. He requested Ketamine treatment after coming out of a hallucination, which helped his leg pain. In the first episode of the third season we saw him running to work. He also had a skateboard. In the same episode he started to feel the pain again after being pain and drug free for two months. Now he is back to using his cane, even though everyone refuses to think the Ketamine failed. |
