Jynxed News

June 24, 2002

Well, some new news. A while ago, Jynxed decided to make a double-cd set for their first album. Since they have about 25 good songs, they can pull it off. But about two weeks ago, they decided to cut back on it and use about 14 songs for their debut. These are all songs that they have perfected, and have a nice flow through each other. The rest of the songs that they have written will be released a few months after the first album as a B-sides album with all new songs. Also, Jynxed will be releasing a promo video CD with the first 50 CDs they sell that will have on it their "Freefall" video and their "Stardust" video that will be explained later. These will come free with the first 50 CDs they sell, which will cost anywhere from $5-$10. They have just started to record the album.

On the last day of school, Mr. Stillerman (Jynxed's number one groupie and fan) informed Chris and Tom of a national competition for the media fair. They decided that "Freefall" had no chance in the nationals, so they decided to make a new video. They chose "Stardust," and recorded, taped, and edited the video in less than 11 hours, compared to "Freefall's" 260 hours. They realized that their videos don't need so much footage after this, and can make many more videos for the first album. "Stardust" was entirely based in a little forest and has not one shot of instruments in it. This was truly a revolutionary video, and proves that Jynxed can pull off "Freefall," 20 times as fast, 20 times as good. It'll be on the CD, too.

As far as Jynxed is coming, there's a lot of bad news, some okay news, and some news you already knew.

Jynxed performed a gig a few weeks ago in the Eastwood Express Fest 2002. They played a number of their songs, including: "To Justify," "Freefall," and "Loose Tooth," along with "My Sacrifice," by Creed, and "Cherub Rock," by the almighty Smashing Pumpkins.

As for the video...

AHH!!

In their state contest, they placed a very, very awful, lowly, embarrassing, discouraging, unfair, despicable, INSANE grade of SECOND DIVISION. Funny how those things work - place 100%, perfect, awesome, at regional competition, place 79% at state. They got a 4.5 out of 7 on audio creativity (their music) and a 4.5 on visual creativity. If you've ever seen their video, you'll then want to hunt down their judges and... well... you get the picture. That really disappointed them, but, as a band, they have expected some ups and downs. It doesn't really matter, anyway. If they'd won state, then nationals, they only would have gotten worldwide exposure on MTV, and quite possibly have gotten a record label. Oh, well... what're you gonna do... can't live on what-ifs...

If you haven't heard yet, Jynxed's old bassist Peter has left the band. They decided that Peter would do much better in another band, and he has left. But since Chris and Tom can also play the bass, Jynxed will stay together. They will still easily record their album, so don't fret - Jynxed will remain!

With their music video "Freefall," Jynxed earned a place in the state finals of the Media Fair! In response to your question ("What the heck is the media fair?",) this is a contest that students can enter through their schools to exhibit their works of technological art and to have them judged. Out of the 16 entries to the category: Video-Live Action, Jynxed's was considered the best! Once Tom & Chris give it some final touches, (re-record the music along with Peter, re-sync the video, and spice it up) Jynxed will post the video on the web. You can expect to see it by May.

As far as the album is coming, Jynxed has just had a TON of stuff on their hands. Pretty soon, they will be recording the final copies of their songs and start burning them. In all, the recording phase is expected to take AT LEAST 20 hours. Have patience, because along with their debut album will come the chance to read their lyrics online and to learn how to play their stuff with the tabs they will post on their site.
