| This is my '78 Mercury wagon. I saw it sitting in a driveway for two years, so I bought it for $40. It needed a fuel pump to run. I locked the motor up on the way to school and spent about $1500 on an engine (including the installion), but it burns ALOT of oil. And since Illinois has strict emissions laws, I'm up shit creek without a paddle. ALSO, the power brakes don't work, and when I bought it both tie rods were shot. One was held together with a hanger and when it broke, I used another hanger and duct tape until I got a REAL tie rod. The other one has a bolt drilled through the ball joint thing. The timing is too far advanced, the radiator leaks, the back bumper looks like it's gonna fall off, and the body is really rusted. I did put on new tires, dual exhaust, and upholstered the rear cargo area. Eventually, I'd like to fix everything and get a 460 for it, but right now I have it "put out to pasteur." |
