My Own Experiences Step by Step Installation:
- Install Chip, Fan and Sink, and Memory in the motherboard
- Install motherboard in the case
- Install hard drive and floppy cables
- Attach monitor cable to on board video card (DO NOT INSTALL ANY PCI CARDS YET)
- Attach case lights wires to motherboard
- Attach power cord
- Turn computer & monitor on
- Press DEL key and set the chip to its speed
- Other settings most be set according to This Bios Settings Screens
- Reboot with a win98 startup disk
- Format booting partition
- Install OS (win98)
- Update to the Bios 1002 Here
- Install the Intel 815E info from the http://www.Cusl2.com Site
- Install the Asus Probe 212 http://www.Cusl2.com Site
- Install Intel Security drivers http://www.Cusl2.com Site
- Install the ATA drivers from the http://www.Cusl2.com Site LAST
- Once everything is settled down
- Install your AGP video card (don’t let boot into win98)
- Restart and go immediately into the Bios and disable the onboard video card and set it up to AGP
- Install AGP video card drivers
- Install your Modem on PCI 5 and its drivers from floppy
- Install IE 5.5
- Configure ISP software/settings to connect to the internet
- Update win98 from the MS site.
- Install Soundcard on PCI 6. and it's drivers.
- Disable SB16 Emulation, Device Manager, Creative Misc. Devices, SB16 emulation, properties, General Tab, place a checkmark on “Disable in this hardware profile” and uncheck “Exists in all hardware profiles”, close the window and reboot.
- Start installing your applications at this point.
- Make Ghost images as soon as you are safe, so in case you get a serious problem you can always go back to the last state where everything was working fine.
