Juanita St. Thomas Family Childcare/ Pre-School

My name is  Juanita St. Thomas. I was born on the 21st of August 1953, on the east coast in New London Connecticut.  I resided there up to the 11th grade.  I came to California in 1971 and attended San Diego Adult School. I graduated a year later in 1972.  January 1974,  I gave birth to  my first son, he became my world.  I'm now the proud mother of two wonderful men, their ages are 28 and 22.  It wasn't a surprise that I became a child care  provider.  I knew by raising my two what a job it would be.  I realized that if you can work with and understand little people, you had to be a special person.  I believe a good beginning is very important. My intent has always been to give my children the love, support, nuturing,and guidance they need to help them be productive adults.  While raising my children I decided I did not want to work outside my home.  I've been doing child care since the birth of my second son in 1978.  I truly believe being a Day Care Provider is where I belong. GOALS FOR DAY CARE Children learn a great  deal through what they see.  Being a child care provider is a great opportunity to contribute to a good solid beginning.  With proper guidance and the projection of positive images,  a child will have some of the basics that he or she will need to live productive lives.  Some of my main goals are to help instill good manners, self-esteem, and self-respect along with being respected and liked by others.  This helps to build  a sense of pride and independance in a yound child.  By gaining their love, they are more open to learn.  A well mannered child is such a joy.  This is worth it all. STRATEGY I am a firm believer in the importance of education.  That is why I incorporate Early Learning and Literacy.  By enhancing this aspect of a child's development you set them up to be confident and successful individuals. PHILOSOPHY A good beginning is so very important to a child's development.  We know that 0-5 are the molding years.  By knowing the various stages of child development, you can help them to be the best they can be.  My philosophy is to understand our children, that way we will be able to understand the adults of tomorrow.
