| Over the years, my husband has generously offered to buy a new dress for me. These shopping trips quickly went downhill due to the lack of attractive and modest clothes available. Usually his price limit was relatively high, but even the pricier stores had little to offer me. We would return home, empty-handed and discouraged. After accumulating lots of fabric I decided it was time to put my sewing machine and myself to work. As I stitch together garments that are modest, I am thankful for all those who taught me to sew. I'd especially like to thank my mom for her patience and help and letting me speed on her sewing machine years ago. Spending time cutting fabric and stitching seams, and holding a finished garment in my hands gives me such a sense of fulfillment, while at the same time I praise the Lord for giving the me time and ability. Many women today can't sew, yet they long for pretty clothes that are modest, affordable and will last through more than 5 washings. Knowing my own struggles, searching far and near for simple, attractive clothes, the LORD put it in my mind to start a sewing service, and Silk and Purple was born. These can be duplicated if you see something that strikes your fancy. At this time we will be offering 4 basic PLUS sized styles, and one PLUS SIZE maternity jumper. If you can't afford to order and pay for your purchase in one complete payment, we are willing to work with you-a lay-away plan of sorts.
