Webmistress's News

April 5/09

I received a lovely email from a site visitor and JSS fan a week ago, asking about the videos on this page. Recently the host made some changes and the videos were no longer visible. Because I'm no longer actively updating this site, and the person emailing seemed anxious to see them, I sent her a batch of original video files so she could enjoy while I made other hosting plans. I don't do this - ever - but made an exception. I figured other people shouldn't suffer just because my priorities have changed.

Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, just 2 days later I found the exact batch of high-quality videos uploaded to YouTube, without any credit to me or the site.

So as it stands right now, YES the videos are being re-upped as I write this and will be visible on the videos page shortly. YES, eventually more will be uploaded, when/if I feel like it. NO, I will not send anyone else original files of anything else I have in the meantime. You can poke around YouTube if you want to know who to thank for that.

In other, non-douchiness-related news: Steve Higgins is the announcer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Howard Feller recently guest starred on 30 Rock and can now be your friend courtesy of Facebook.

Holy crap, the JSS was pimped on the Colbert Report last night! And judging from my spike in site traffic, you all know about it! A few weeks back a lovely Youtuber posted a video of Jon and Conan from the MTV version of the show, and it's gotten plenty of attention. The broadcast-quality version of the clip was shown on TCR, as part of a "feud" between Stephen/Jon & Conan.

August 2007

I met Howard Feller! I was wandering around the streets of Manhattan, and thought I'd run to TKTS (the discount b'way ticket booth) and catch a Saturday matinee. Howard was stationed infront of TKTS, providing info on the shows to the woefully uninformed tourists. Hey, there's no shame in having a day job! I had a really nice conversation with him later that evening, and learned that he's still doing standup around NYC (that night he was scheduled to perform at Charley O's on 8th Ave). Howard looks EXACTLY the same, so be on the lookout for him around New York, and be sure to say "hi!".

-Welcome LJ-ers! A few more videos added to the Videos page today; please excuse the mess, as the video section is currently under renovations. This is, however, a great time to send in your requests!

Feb 4/07

-A few more videos added to the Videos page.
-Anyone recognize the name of the newest addition to the Daily Show's writing staff? It's none other than JSS writer Josh Lieb, coming full-circle.

Nov 22/06

-YouTube has disabled my account (because Comedy Central seems to think they own everything their stars have ever appeared in) and I will have to re-up the vids on the Videos page. Please check back for updates, and additional videos.
-I visited the Museum of Radio & Television in New York over the summer, and details of my JSS findings are on the Writers page and Video page.

March 9/06

-We have a Howard Feller sighting. According to today's New York Post, he was auditioning for season 4 of Last Comic Standing, in New York City, using the following joke: "I started a diet recently. Actually I'm on two diets, because you don't get enough food on one diet."

-Got wonderful email from Dave Blog about a month ago, who the more astute readers will identify as a PA on Jon's old show and now a producer on the Daily Show (and former author of the Daily Show Newsletter -- as in "My name is Dave and..." and "(dave says)".) Dave made a very sweet offer to answer some questions for the site, so I promptly forwarded him a short list. I'm sure we're going to get the answers back any day now. Thanks to the wonders of JavaScript, we can follow his progress with this handy dandy tool:
