I was born witha very rare birth defect known as Arthrogryposis. Along with having AMC I also had Clubbed hands and feet, arms fixed in a straight possition, and I had a hole in my belly that my bowels were out through it is know as Gastroskesis. My gastro was fixed w/in hours of birth and all went well and I recovered very well. Then in January of 2000 I had my clubbed feet repaired and they work great now. The doctors told my Mommy and Daddy that I would never sit on my own and my intelligence would be below normal , I would never walk on my own and I would never be able to use my arms! Wow did I fool all of those doctors! Granted at first I was a bit behind at first, but my Mommy and Daddy worked w/ me all of the time and I came through and amazed everyone. When I was 8 months old I sat up on my own. And the same day I learned to roll over all on my own That was a big day for me, I learned to do alot that day!. My intelligents sored w/ a bit of encouragement and alot of reading from everyone around me. And my intelligents took off from there and now my intelligents is a bit above my age appropriate intelligents now. I fooled the Doctors again! My latest accomplishment and the biggest one yet is I started to walk on March 25, 2001. I am now 2.5 yrs old and I have fooled the Doctors over and over again. I still need to learn to use my arms, and I know some day I will even though the doctors tell me I never will! I have determination and a family that has determination and support as well. There is a goal I have in life and it is to touch as many people as possible and teach them that a disability is no need to stare and make fun of we are all the same but some of us were not given the ability to do things like others. So let my story touch you like it has touched so many other people in my life! UPDATE: On September 8th I turned 3 years old. Wow am I getting big.. Mommy tells me I need to clean up after myself. I wonder what she thinks that she is for hehe! I am in pre-school now and I love it! September 27th: I fell and broke my right arm. It really hurt. But mommy tells me it was kinda a good thing cause my joint is more mobile and when it was in a cast I learned to use my left arm more. Now I realize that I can use both of my arms and hands and they work the same. I am learning how to feed myself now. Hmm there I go again fooling those doctors. And they think they know arthrogryposis. hehe I am gonna have mommy add a few more pictures of me so everyone can see how big and cute I am.. Update: 1/30/03.... Wow have I accomplished alot this past yr. I am in pre school again this yr and learning fast.. I am gaining motion in my elbows now and now I can get my hands to my mouth... And you know what that means... I can feed myself now. It is going slow but I am learning. I am going to have my mommy add some new pics. Thanks for visiting me...
