This was another one of Courteney's early forays onto the big screen, shortly after her brief (and deeply missed) Misfits of Science career. It was a real pleasure seeing here again in this movie. | |

| Courteney did a really good job here. She didn't really look credible in this role though, but not due to any failings on her part. If anything, she looked too good for the part -- too glamorous. She was supposed to be a marine biologist, but she was made up to look more like a supermodel. | ||

| Mind you, I'm not saying that there aren't any beautiful scientists out there; in fact, I know quite a few. However, Courteney's glamour and pin-up appeal made her look like an unlikely choice, and I think that it detracted from her credibility in this particular role. I hate to admit it, but I know that I found myself thinking, "What is a woman like that doing in a marine research lab? She should be a model or an actress, or something like that." | ||

Yeah, I know. This is a rather lame objection. Still, I think it's an example of how Hollywood sometimes considers beauty to be more important than having the right "look" for a part. I'll say more about this on page two. |
