This site is dedicated to the memory of two of my best friends:

John Caruso (1962-1993), an American who grew up internationally like I did. John was not only one of the funniest people I have ever met but the most brilliant. Among his many talents, John spoke over eleven languages fluently.

John died of AIDS on May 14, 1993 at home in Severn, Maryland.

and

Caitlin (Kate) Bailey (1967-1994), from Kalamazoo, Michigan, who spent her last months in Brussels, Belgium (which was her second home outside of Kalamazoo). Kate was the most vibrant person I have ever known, her electrically fun presence was felt the moment she walked into any room. She was 5'2" but her personality was taller than tall.

Kate died on March 19, 1994 of accidental Carbon Monoxide poisoning at her appartment in Brussels, Belgium.

I met up with Kate's mother Leigh in New York in June, 2000. She brought me a wonderful album of photographs. Below are select photographs from the album, they may take a while to load, but worth the wait.
