We are an extension of the original location founded by Sylvia Miller in Marion County. She is the mother of three elementary aged children. Realizing the need for parent involvement, and the strength to be found in parental and sibling support and networking, she began her journey to form Parents Helping Parents of Florida in November of 2001.
In September 2002, in an effort to extend a "helping hand" and do more to assist all families of special needs children in Marion County, Sylvia Miller formed "Parents Helping Parents of Florida, Inc. (a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization).
In January of 2005, the invitation was extended to counties beyond Marion County. Currently Parents Helping Parents of Florida has established branches in Hillsborough, Orange, Marion,Seminole, and Volusia Counties with hopes of expanding onward to cover all of the State of Florida.
We are currently in the middle of a large community project in which we will provide various therapeutic aides to our families with children with disabilities. We have also received requests from a variety of other non-profit agencies within our community that assist families with disabilities for these same items. Since we are a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on our community to help us with our needs. We are asking for you to please contribute in what ever way you can.
