History of ACLA
On January 21, 1999, twelve people met at the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library for the specific purpose of forming a support group for the library.
The consensus of this group was that they would remain a local group rather than join a national group such as "Friends of the Library."  At this point, the group decided to name the organization: the Appomattox County Library Association (ACLA).
Two important areas of concern for ACLA are fundraising and establishing a volunteer network for the library.
ACLA has been able to provide the library with funding for its Summer Reading Programs, books, computer software, and other important materials.
ACLA continues to support the library with volunteers who provide
Story and Craft Time for all pre-school patrons and help with other library projects.
