Fairbrook Home Construction

As many of you know, we are toward the tail end of the construction of our "dream home". It has been about 3 years since we began the whole process...and unfortunately, with the wrong company. After much hard work, and no little amount of patience, our home is almost done.

We are currently working on the floor trim, which is about half done. After that, all that is left is the built-in bookshelf in the loft, some trim work along the cieling, and an EXTREME amount of design/installation of landscaping materials.

Construction:

This is a shot of our lovely front door. It tooks lots of sanding and several applications of Spar Varnish to get this puppy outdoor ready!

And this is the view once you enter our front door. Of course, we normally don't have the tree, but I had to put it up while I have the time.

Here is a much better shot of the fireplace, which cranks off quite the amount of heat! Not that we'd need it here in PA with our 46 degree days!

Just another shot of the Tree ^_^ That, and I wanted to share the wall of windows!

Turning around and looking the other direction in the Great Room brings us to the Dining Room. This room is an octagonal off-shoot of the Great Room. At one point, there had been talk of removing this room - I'm so very glad that we kept it!

This is just a better shot of the Dining Room on its own.

I decided to make the walls a little more intersting by applying a leaf motif and then painting with a glaze. It really is not this orange in person...more of a terra kotta.

This is the only shot of the kitche that turned out for me...stupid twitchy hands! What you can't see behing the bar portion of the island is my built-in cooktop. I love that sucker! And the double ovens sure came in handy this past week!

Off of the kitchen is the Mudroom - which also connects to the garage - thank the gods for garage door openers!!

Entering the house again at the Kitchen gives a great shot into the *messy* Pantry. Yeppers, that is my wine fridge! It's totally awesome!!

This is just a quick shot of the Master Bedroom. I did a textured finish on the walls - granite was my choice. It looks great, but what a pain to apply!!

Off of the Great Room and beside the Master Bedroom is the powder room. I had a few shots of the master Bath with it's custom walk-in shower and whirlpool tub, but the stupid things were blurry. The same goes for the guest bathroom and bedroom upstairs. Sorry.

At the corner of the stairs is what I like to call my Serenity Area. When the fountain is running, it is so very soothing!

And now it's time to enter the Warroom. Since we only have dial-up at this time, I didn't even bother to really settle in my section of computer desk.

A quick turn-around shows you the dual storage closets. The one on the left is mine - the right is Aaron's. I think that you will be able to tell that with the next pic!

This is just a quick shot from the first floor up into the loft. That is where I plant my butt to watch Prince of Tennis!!

I'll try to take some more pics of the remaining rooms, as well as the outside of the house. Right now, it is raining - I have a hard enough time taking pictures that I don't need to dodge rain drops too!
