This view  is the back of the old General Hospital which shows that a part of the original 1897 Old City Hospital is still standing. This structure behind the present old general hospital is a wing of the original structure and part of the front of the old main building that was left when the newer hospital was constructed around 1935.
The "Learn Nashville" Webpage
has  some history and a great photo of this older section of the facility. (

This is the original Old City Hospital around 1910 from the front. This building was one block off Filmore Street (Hermitage Ave.) on a small side street called Nance and faced the downtown area. When the new hospital was constructed in the mid 1930's, the left-most portion of the front (with the two small  steeples) was left along with the rear addition to be used by the hospital as wards.

Another view of the "old ward"(most of which was added as an addition between 1910 and 1920) This portion was used as a hospital ward through the 1950's after the new General Hospital was completed. The public restrooms were located outside to the rear of this portion.
