My Las Vegas and More Page

This is a site that will begin your journey into the wild happenings at the world's largest "free" party. I will give you a little about the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, tell all about the Parades that are the focal point of the proceedings, in Uptown New Orleans and in Metairie, and give you a taste of what it is like on Bourbon Street, where all the crazies hang out. I will also include a page of links to New Orleans sites pertaining to Mardi Gras and your stay in The Big Easy.

The Fatted Bull
The Fatted Bull represents the last feast before the Lenten season, and is part of the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Leviathan
Leviathan is one of the largest floats in Mardi Gras. It rolls in the Orpheus Parade on Lundi Gras,
which is the Monday before Fat Tuesday.

Bourbon Street Awards
This was the scene at about 11:45 A.M. on Mardi Gras 2003, just before the start of the Annual Bourbon Street Awards. As usual for Bourbon Street, the crowd packed in from curb to curb.

White Alligators at the Audubon Zoo

These white, not albino, alligators live in the Audubon Zoo in the heart of New Orleans. It is one of the best places to take the kids for a break away from the Mardi Gras party.

in the Crescent City.
