Every 13 seconds someone is infected with HIV, Every minute a child dies from AIDS, Each day in Africa there are 5,500+ deaths related to AIDS, Each day in Africa there are 11,000+ new HIV infections, Some 13 million African children are counted as AIDS orphans, In 2000, about 5.3 million people around the world became newly infected with HIV, 600,000 of them children, Worldwide, more than 80 percent of all adult HIV infections have resulted from heterosexual intercourse, Worldwide, every 14 seconds a child is made an orphan because of AIDS. One third of these children are under the age of 5.
