The Jericho Amnesty Coalition - Los Angeles includes Asians for Jericho & Mumia, the Anarchist Black Cross Federation, Anti-Racist Action/People Against Racist Terror(ARA/PART), the Puerto Rican Alliance and other organizations and individuals inspired by the "Jericho" call from locked-down freedom fighters behind prison walls for a movement for amnesty on the outside. We recognize that the US holds well over 100 political prisoners and prisoners of war -- some for over 30 years, and more every day as people are politicized behind bars or imprisoned for political resistance to the empire and the war machine. We invite you to join us in a campaign not only to educate people about these freedom fighters, but to FREE THEM! The current conditions of war and increasing poverty and oppression arise from the defeats inflicted upon previous liberation movements by the COINTELPRO domestic counter-insurgency warfare that killed, exiled or locked up people committed to winning liberation, such as Mumia Abu-Jamal, Jamil Al Amin, Marilyn Buck, Haydee Torres, Alvaro Luna Hernandez, Leonard Peltier and dozens of others from the Black Panther Party, American Indian Movement, Puerto Rican independence struggle and other revolutionary forces. Their relevance to contemporary struggles is greater than ever today! |
