| JENNIFER (nee McMahon) WHIPKEY Killed Memorial Day Weekend 2002 Last seen Early Saturday morning at the ADELPHIA RESTAURANT in Deptford, New Jersey. Her Body was found Sunday, May 26, 2002 in a wooded area across from the WESTWOOD MOTOR LODGE in West Deptford, New Jersey. Known details of the crime: Jennifer was on a date at the Adelphia Restaurant Friday night. She had an arguement with her date and he left her at the restaurant. Jennifer had been dancing, drinking and having a good time until closing. Jennifer had no way to get home and no one at the restaurant knows with whom she left with. She was last scene making phone calls in the parking lot. It's possible that she left in a car that was described as a gray colored Chevy Corsica with a dented door. Jennifer was stabbed multiple times which caused her death early Saturday morning between 3-5 am. The killer did not place her body until late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Police believe she was killed elsewhere. She was placed in a wooded area on a busy road across from the Westwood Motor Lodge |

| ON DECEMBER 22, 2008, 30 year old Brian Mertz ,of West Deptford NJ, was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting and murdering Jennifer. Authorities said DNA helped lead to his arrest. At the time of the assault and murder, Brian Mertz lived approxaimetly 55 yards from where he placed Jen's body to be found. It is still unknown at this time where the assaulted and murder took place and where her body was during the gap of 31 hours between the time she was killed to the time her body was located. Brian Mertz is being held on $750,000 bail. In a news confrence statement on December 22, 2008, Jennifer's mother, Liz, asked that people continue to pray for her and her family. |
