My Poetry
My Poetry:

Would you hold me?

Would you hold me in your arms
Just so that I can see
How strong and how protective
Your embrace, for me, could be?

Will you hold me soft and tender
And rock me gently too
I need to feel you near me
Just between me and you.

Would you hold me in your arms
When I softly ask you please
And just a little tighter
I promise not to tease

To feel your arms around me
To be part of a team
With loving tender moments
I can but only dream.

Have Courage

In troubled times
The heart sinks low
But just hold on
There's so far to go
Around the corner
Though trouble is there
Do not falter
Have courage and dare
Dare to do
What others fear
Protect the one's
Who shed a tear
Fight for the right
To live in Peace
Fight day and night
And hold Victory in sight.

CAMPFIRE NIGHTS

A campfire blazing brightly
With a slow and lingering glow
The sparks flame up quite quickly
Then die in a second or so.
Shadows flicker as the flames play
A wild dog sounds his howl
I?ll be gone tomorrow with no delay
Just another figure on the prowl.

Another day, another dawning
Yet another campfire burning
In the shadows of the night
You?ll find me in the campfire light.

Inch by inch the night crawls on
The night animals are stirring
Darkening shadows fall upon
Tree?s, stumps and in the clearing.
The stock horse standing to the side
Neighs loud at the slightest sound
Ever so faithful as we ride
And always holds his ground.

Another day, another dawning
And yet another campfire burning
In the shadows of the night
You?ll find me in the campfire light.

GRANDMA JOHNSTON

Bedridden and helpless-
Yet strong and secure
Always there for good advice
Always had a cure

All the stories that she told
We always listened well
She made life a pleasure
Poems and stories she would tell

Practical jokes and tricks
She schemed for us to play
On others so unwary
Or just for her to say:

"I wonder if the fairies
Will take this cup away?"
I'd take it to the kitchen
And rush back to her to say:

"The fairies took it Grandma,"
"They really did", I'd say
And she'd silently laugh and smile and comment
"Gee they were quick today"

The visitors that came
Because she couldn't go to them
always someone with her
For the love she shared with them

Now she's gone - we miss her so
Our love for her won't falter
Our memories are sure and strong
Through joy and tears and laughter.

The ANZAC's March to War

They marched proudly into battle,
Tall and straight, heads held high
They went into a nightmare as volunteers,
Came out heroes in a world of their own.

No one to understand the dangers,
The things they went through
The comrades lost, the mateship gained
All in a world of their own.

And now, as they march tall
Remembering the past, the battles
Old mates since gone
Living in a nightmare of the bombs, blasts and guns.

The haunting memories of war
The agony and pain, screams of the dying
The laughs and companionship
And the fate that brought them together.

Forever A Dream

If dreams could come true-
If only they would
I'd be set for life
With the one I love
And he really would
Love me true
For in my dream
He loves me too
As I love him
With all my heart
He'd release for me
His passionate heart
Forever together
In each others arms
Forever in love
But alas -
Forever a Dream!

Dear Ol' Dad

I want me scones!
Where's me scones?
I hear it everyday.
I want me scones, I want me scones
My dear Ol' Dad will say
I'll be in later
I'll expect them then
You'll have them there I hope
I want me scones
With tea and jam and
I want them there today!
Chocolate cake or lamintons
There's no comparison
I want me scones -
But not truckie scones
And I'll be happy for a day!
(*truckie scones are weetbix with butter and jam)

Love

If I told you I love you
What would you say?
If I said I'd do anything for you
Would you do anything for me?
My heart's on the line
For I do love you so
I only hope that the love you feel
Is true for me too.

Phantom Lover

Phantom lover in the night
Phantom lover hold me tight
For in the morning
When I wake
My heart for you will always ache
Phantom lover, love me do
My phantom lover, love me true
My lover I will wait for thee
Until the day you come for me.

Weaving your Spell

You've been weaving a spell on me
And now you've captured my heart
I want to feel you close to me
Now it's time to make a start.

Your lips I want to feel on mine
I need your sweet embrace
Your touch sends shivers down my spine
And my heart does race.

The passion felt between us
Is like magic in the air
And sparks trailing from a shooting star
Makes our love beyond compare.

Recycled Water

Out at Mullaley,
Right down the back
The funniest site I did see
A white box on a trailer
Behind the old landrover
I wondered what it could be?

I was down in the garden
With my Dad just to see
How the radish patch was coming along
When the hose - it was running
And the tap not turned on!
We were puzzled just how that could be?

Then all of a sudden
Was a rattle and shudder
And poor Ol' Darlin' did shake
T'was John's washing machine
That was making the fuss
And the mud that was left in it's wake!

Feelings

It's strange you know
The feelings that I feel
One minute I'm happy
The next I want to cry
I'm not well
I know that
I have too many things wrong
with this body
To know what to do anymore
The pain rips thru
Making me hurt
In my heart, in my soul
And everywhere else too
I don't know what to do.

The Lyre Bird

Out in the open where the stars shine bright
A campfire blazed throughout the night
And as the camper stoked the fire
He listened to the lonesome lyre
It's call was a sorrowful, pitiful yearn
And told of all it could not learn
But soon the long and lasting night
Was driven away by the coming light
The fire was stoked and begun to burn
As the camper longed for much to learn
About that lonesome bird, the lyre
All his efforts will never tire.
