Why am I a pirate? And why am I a desert pirate? I am a pirate because I no longer conform to society's religious and spiritual views and values. I am a "desert pirate" because I now live in New Mexico. In years past, I sojourned in the land of the bayous, where I encountered the spirit of Jean Lafitte, and when I moved back to the Southwest, I brought that spirit with me. Nothing is forgotten; nothing is ever forgotten: Though some things from my past are now obsolete, they are still relevant because they have brought me to where I stand now; they have shaped and formed the present. |
