Where I am now... |
I am currently working at Elan
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a Vavarium Database Coordinator working on Alzheimer's
research. With six
years experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, I am amply
skilled in dentistry, anesthesia, x-ray, venipuncture, and
catheterization. I enjoy
working in a a small animal 24-hour emergency clinic
which allows me to contribute and build on my knowledge of veterinary medicine and
animal hospitals. I also greatly enjoy working with critical care patients.
I feel the veterinary medicine field, especially in small animal
hospitals, demands strong team work and strong team players. As shown by my
current and previous employment, and my education, I have a strong
commitment to the small animal care field.

Why veterinary medicine? |
My love for animals goes as far back as I can remember.
My first contact with small animals came when volunteering as an
aid at a local animal museum. I
spent much of my childhood learning at the museum, through the cleaning
and handling of all types of animals, from raptors to rats.
After several years of volunteer work, I knew working with animals
was what I was meant to do with my life.
While in high school, I began working at a local veterinary hospital, again
as a volunteer, which saw many small and exotic animals.
Following high school, I went to California State University at
Sacramento and Diablo Valley College where I studied
Biology, Zoology and Chemistry. I
then enrolled myself into a two-year degree program to become a Registered
Veterinary Technician in the state of California.
Upon graduating and passing the California State Board examination for
Registered Veterinary Technicians, I went to work for the same hospital that I had once
volunteered at. I soon learned many
skills in the restraint of large birds, reptiles, rodents, dogs and cats.
I am notably experienced and knowledgeable with most small animal
species.
