There's quite a few rumours; more than a little supposition; and at least 98% ignorance about me and what I, as a person am or believe rather than what I merely 'do'. For the record, and to get it out of the way. I was born with 'the sight' and 'truthspeak' amongst other things; a fair amount of Old & Wild magic from known blood families where 'gifts' are common and the words Wicca, Wicce, and Wiccedom were used pre-Gardner, pronounced differently, and have a different meaning to the Greco-Roman/Masonic system touted today! I am fully initiated in 1 Old Craft/TradCraft lineage and 2 modern 'Craft' lines (both A & G - and yes, Old Craft is VERY different to the modern version; a lot more 'earthy' shall we say?) I was Initiated (O.C)in 1976,'Raised'(O.C) in 1979, and have been what A&G call a HPs of a coven since 1985, and MathraCheile since, er, 1989(?). It does mean that those I have initiated have an 'interesting' set of verifiable modern and old lineages ALL of which they ALL can legitimately claim, but call them 'eclectic' at your peril as they're very aware of which witch is which (and why and when)! (Though some of them may use the term 'syncretic' at times, depending on what they're doing at the time.) I am a full-time ordained 'religieux' serving various HMP prisons and other authorities, a part-time scribbler of books; do weddings and funerals and, to preserve what little sanity I may have, have played for over 30 years in Brass and other Bands ).
I'm not one for putting spells and stuff on the internet, despite many requests 'to share' (of course we ALL trust total strangers with hazardous and personal information! Not!): anyway I thought it was time to answer a few queries; so please forgive the pandering to self-interest, or ego, or whatever you want to call it, after all, SOMEONE bullied me into putting this up! LOL.
Me? I'm a Celt/Dane mixed-breed. I grew up hearing the stories of Scotland and Ireland, a few from Denmark and the 'Norse countries', and the South Riding of Yorkshire - to which we've now added those of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and North Leicestershire.
My family held and holds to the work ethic. 'If you haven't earned your bread, why should you have it?' And probably the bane of my life is the quote from the Havamál which was knocked into me from a young age and added to by my husband with the last two lines. "Not all sick men are utterly wretched. The halt can manage a horse, The handless a flock. The deaf can be doughty fighters, To be blind is better than to burn on a pyre. There is nothing the dead can do…... Except fertilise the earth, Or inspire a nation."
Ironic when I've been effectively crippled by a horse--but the Old Ones like their little joke don't they.
Anyroad, having been 'educated' by the Midlands lot out of Yorkshire pudding before the meal, feeding the men before the bairns or women; or calling people 'thee', and 'thou' - a hangover from our 'roving' ancestors, shall we say; I'm afraid to say that such is about the level of my personal concession to 'civilisation'.
Yes, I'm clannish; expected from someone brought up in them. No, I don't trust--until folk have shown what areas they're trustworthy in; (we have a saying--'a wolf can but act as a wolf' - think about it): and there's a world of difference between being friendly and being 'Friends'. I'm 'keen' on environmental matters because whatever the religious belief, no god is going to be pleased about us wantonly wrecking their/His/Her/its creation. (And we do want to eat wholesome food - don't we?)
Oh--and I don't do/condone the abuse of ANY substance. Pandering to such weaknesses is not worthy of any self-respecting individual. Anyway, the long term side-effects of my prescription painkillers are 'interesting' enough without damaging myself by any other method: and I made my decision about who I share my body/life energy with decades ago so please let's not discuss the 'pagans are into promiscuity' myth, it raises my temper. Ta. So that's that out of the way.
