| This car has 17" C2 replica wheels matched with Bridgestone Potenza tires. It corners like it's on rails and the tail really pins the rear end down at higher speeds. It's not quite as fast or luxurious as the 928 but it has many qualities that make it a "blast" to drive. Each of these Porsche models have a strong following of enthusiasts and owning both it's easy to see why. Nonetheless, it's unfair to strongly compare the two because Porsche built and designed them with different objectives in mind. Actually, Porsche executive Ernst Furhmann was afraid that the U.S safety regulations that were rapidly tightening in the early '70s might spell the end of the rear engined 911. Thus the 928 was designed and debuted in 1978 winning Motor Trend Car of the Year. As it turned out, thank goodness, the 911 was able to continue in it's evolution to be one of the finest sports cars on the road today. Unfortunately, the 928 was phased out in 1995 for different reasons. |
