THE WHITE CANDLE

i'm sitting in the backyard of cafe 52 
on this slightly coolish September night reading an interview with a neo-pagan witch 
a white candle burning brightly in the night 
on the table in front of me

it's for protection and good fortune 
but is it just for me 
or does the radiant energy of
this piece of white magic extend to everyone here?

it is for me, of course 
but in reality its beneficial energies are 
for everyone here

two women are now reading some of my 
love sensitive poetry

the good here is now what prevails
