He was playing alone at the basketball court and there were no one around. He haven't make the hoop for a good whole half an hour. He tried again but still missed it. When he went to pick up the ball, he heard a familar voice.
"You're cheating! You can't snatch the ball!" a girl shouted. The voice sounded familar to him. 'It can't be.' The reality pouring the awful truth into his mind. When he turned around, he discovered that it was her. She came over and snatched the ball away from him. Dribbling the ball, she ran for the hoop and shoot the ball. The ball made the hoop and she cheered happily. How he missed that vibrant laughter which filled the atmosphere with such power. 'Darlene?' His mind whispered. The mischevious grin appeared on her face as she ran towards him. He smiled giddily. When Brian blinked for one second and look again, she was gone. His smile fade away and he lowered his head slowly. He closed his eyes for a while, thinking back on the days when they were playing basketball together on this court. A silent tear slowly made its way from his eyes and down onto the ball which he was holding. "I missed you..." Brian finally cried out and shoot for the hoop. But he still missed it. Perhaps some things are better left unretrieved. Hanging his head, he turned and walked off without retrieving back the ball. | ||||||
