International Tree Foundation - Northern  Ireland

We have been protecting, promoting and planting trees for the last 80 years. We are a charity (No 1106269). The work is done by local people who volunteer their free time. We work throughout the world.

We plant mostly in the grounds of schools and colleges, parks and council property. In schools we work alongside students and their teachers. The students receive a practical lesson in tree planting. They seem to enjoy the experience and so do we!

Schools that have benefited from our effort include: Lagan College, All Saints Primary at Tattysallagh, Rathcoole PS, Strangford College, St Columba’s Clady, Whitehouse PS…

Other places include Ballymenock Park, Hollywood, Crawfordsburn Coastal Path, Carnfunnock Country Park…

The past season has been very busy with plantings at a sports ground – Youth Sport Omagh (300 trees), at Crawfordsburn (450 trees). Along the A505 Omagh to Cookstown arterial road we planted 300 Blackthorn and 150 deciduous trees, including Oaks grown from locally-sourced acorns.

If you have any contacts with a school/nursing home/youth club where there is space for planting, please let us know.

As you can see the work does not stop – why not join us now!info@itfni.org.uk

Brantry Lough, Co. Armagh This wonderful woodland enchanted us all, not surprising when you think how long ago it was recorded; “…woodland existed at Brantry in 1834 and that there is mention of it in papers relating to The Flight of the Earls (that is 400 years ago, this 14th September!)” (Photo taken by Arlette Bataillé, ITF council member)
