These photos are from my personal photo file while I was serving my tour of duty in Korea. The time period was 1953 and 1954. The tour was a full sixteen months while serving as a Combat Photographer in the 4th. Signal Battalion, X. Corps, Korea. Most of the photos are in black and white, with a sprinkling of color now and then. I served as a lab technician and as a field photographer. I rose in rank and chose to volunteer for Aerial Combat Photography. The armistice was signed after I completed 16 missions and during my time on the ground, I was appointed as the photographer for General I.D.White, who was the commander of the X. Corps during most of my tour of duty there. I had the opportunity to be involved in some historical times as a photographer when history was being made in Korea. I was then, and am now, proud to have been a part of those times. Some of these photos are one of a kind with pictures of Syngman Rhee and officers of that era. Maybe someone else will remember. |
