Increase:  Knit front and back of the stitch.

Instructions:

Cast on 8 stiches on one double pointed needle and divide them, 2 sts on each of 4 dbpns.

Join. Be careful not to twist stitches.

Row 1:  Knit the 2 stitches of each needle.

Row 2:  Knit, increasing 1 in each of the 2 stitches (Right side) = 4 sts on each needle.

Row 3:  Purl one round even.

Row 4:  Knit, increasing 1 in the first and the last stitch of each needle = 6 sts on each needle.

Row 5 and every odd row (Wrong side):  Purl one round even.

Row 6 and every ....  row:  Knit, increasing 1 in the first and the last stitch of each needle = 8 needles.

Increasing 2 rows on each needle, every other row, continue to work in Garter Stitch until there are 160 sts between the increases.

Switch to the 16” circular needle when there are 20 sts on each dbpn, and to a 29” circular needle when the 16” one becomes to small, placing markers at corners of the square (one of different color for marking the beginning of the row).

Then, make a row of eyelets (K1, YO, K2tog, YO, K2tog, …) all around, on the Right Side of the work, continuing the increase at corners.

3 Next rows: Purl even, Knit (with increases at corners), Purl even.

Next row:  Make another row of eyelets on the RS of the work, still increasing like previously.

Next row:  Cast off in Purl loosely on the RS of the work.

***TIP:  To make sure my casting off will be loose enough, I use a bigger needle (in this case, a # 9 US (5 ¼ mm) size needle.

Edge is made with Crochet Shell stitch.

Starting in a corner, sc in the first space, ch 1, * skip 1 space, 5 dcs in next space, ch 1, skip 1 space, 1 sc in next sp, ch 1*. Repeat from * to * all around, making 7 dcs in the same sp in corners. Stop in sl in the first sc.
