Yemen business destination

.... The Wisdom belongs
     to Yemen
     here is the origin
     of all being...
Arabia Felix, the ancients called Yemen - Happy Arabia
- for its fertility and frankincense, and the fabled
civilization of the Queen of Sheba. It is a place of
scenic grandeur and intimate charm. The bare rock of
mountain spines in interlaced with hillsides of
intricate terracing and valleys of apricot and apple
orchards. The characteristic tower-houses,
high-ceiling and pierced by exquisitely decorated
windows, have a haunting, medieval beauty. Unspoiled
beaches and vibrant coral reefs run along more than
2000 kilometers on the Red and Arabian Seas.

With an optimistic economic outlooks, new political and monetary stability, and predictions for aggressive growth, Yemen is...

....OPEN FOR BUSINESS....
... earth
every spring
turns into a painting...
an eager workforce, rich natural resources, and an excellent geographical location at the hub of world and regional shipping routes.

And just as important, the country is now enjoying economic and political stability unprecedented in its recent history - and a government committed to the private sector.

Yemen has one of the best investment packages in the region. Tax holidays are granted for seventy sixteen years, depending on the volume of exports, local content and other criteria. All capital goods are exempt from customs duties. There are not exchange controls, and no discrimination is made between Yemeni and foreign investors.

Yemen's most obvious investment opportunities lies in oil and gas, tourism, fisheries and agriculture.

In agriculture and fisheries investment is sought in refrigeration, packaging and marketing.

Investment is also sough for infrastructure projects, as at the container terminal and free - zone development in Aden.

Investors in search for a hospitable environment and for incentives will find both in Yemen.

I hope that more people will visit us.
Yemen is the richest Arab country in culture, in history, in people....

and use of rock for building stone is common.
Limestone and gypsum are for use in local cement
plants and salt is mined for both local use and
export. rock salt is excavated by the Yemeni Salt
Company at Salif on the Red Sea. Annual production is
140.000 tons of which 120.000 tons are exported. Salt
is produced by evaporation of sea water. Annual
production is 150.000 tons of salt. Salt is mined in
small scale for local use.

LAND IS LIFE

IN YEMEN LAND MEANS DEMOCRACY !

Yemen is one of the oldest inhabited region in the
world. To the Roman with its flourishing agriculture
Yemen was simply Arabia Felix, or Happy Arabia.

Yemen has been long known for its variety of cereals
(wheat, sorghum, millet, barley), vegetables and
fruits (grapes, dates, bananas, mangoes, melons),
raisins, finest coffee, skins, hides, leather, rice,
cotton, myrrh, frankincense, medical herbs.

Soqotra - a garden in the ocean

The Soqotran archipelago is situated in the north-western part of the Indian Ocean. It consists of the main island of Soqotra (also written Sokotra, Socotra, Suqutra: 115 km long, 35 km wide) and Abdalkuri, two smaller islands, and two rocky
outcrops. Plant and animal endemism are high, and the
surrounding waters harbor marine organisms (especially fishes) that are a mixture of three distinct bio geographical zones. Among the most singular communities is a semi-evergreen bush land on limestone slopes dominated by Dracaena cinnabari, characterized by a short stout trunk and a very dense umbrella-shaped crown. Since antiquity, Soqotra has played a role in trade and traffic between Arabia, East Africa and India. At least three major waves of immigrants have contributed to the archipelagos population, whose traditional livelihoods are based on fishing and nomadic pastoral's. With such panoply of characteristics, the
archipelago has not surprisingly long attracted the attention and fascination of biologists, conservationists, anthropologists, and others.
In recent years, the islands global significance has brought partnerships between the people of Soqotra, the Government of Yemen and a number of international organizations, working towards conservation and sustainable development of the archipelago. One specific activity has been the convening of an international symposium on Soqotra, its present situation and its future, held in March 1996 at the
University of Aden, with over 2000 participants and
some 70 presentations covering all aspects and
Soqotras geo strategic importance, the archipelago as a
"breadbasket" of Yemen and the Soqotri language.
