Agate is one of the recognized and useful semi-precious stone by the Iranian peoples , like turquoise. For the ancient Persians Agate was a wonderful stone , that they believed that in its talisman power and some of them believed that seeing in Agate increase eyesight . and now most of Iranians use this stone like their fathers and some of them for ornament or religious ideas .
Many of the rare & colorful Agate fields in Iran are unknown , because most of them located in the plateau of Iran that access to these places is very difficult and dangerous, therefore Iranian handicraftsman use very limited & in hand form (especially on colorless ones) Agates for dyeing red and cutting cabochons form them in silverware , rings , earrings , ….
My rough Agate Geodes collection ( colorful-banded form of Agates ) , is a rare collection of Iranian agates that gathering from around of Iran and in hard conditions . bellow is some photos of them .
