Internet Multimedia is a very happening field. Lots of work is going on to improve the quality of multimedia on the network. The challenge is massive. It is more so because of the accessories we already have in our hand. You already have a digital music system or a home theater in your house. Why should you bother to access an audio/video media over the net which may be slow or of poor quality! So it is a difficult task for the technologists working on Internet to make the multimedia service over IP network good enough to attract the general mass.

How daunting the work may sound, I think the techie group has been quite successful. However the pursuit for the best quality Internet Multimedia is far from being over. A host of Multimedia Services are being offered over the globe though Internet or otherwise and you can expect much more of them. As the industry evolves it needs more and more people to work on Internet Multimedia. The prospect is enormous but it is sometimes difficult to get going in this relatively new field.

The purpose of the site is to guide the uninitiated through the realms of Internet Multimedia. It is meant for an introduction to what lies ahead. It consists of short tutorials on aspects important to multimedia services. The list is available on the left-hand menu.

What is coming up?

A more detailed SDP tutorial is on its way. However I have plans much bigger. I would like to discuss on audio/video compressions, multimedia network architecture and other relevant protocols. So keep coming back.

How do you use it?

If you want just an overview of any of the topics, it is a good place to start and to stop.
