Arc de Triomphe (1836), Napoleon's idea for a monument to commemorate his victories, but not completed until many years after his death. Twelve grand avenues converge here. Like the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of both Paris and France.
The Pompidou Center (1977) - modern archictecture conquers Paris again, with its insides on the outside. An art and cultural building like no other I have ever seen.

Sacre-Coeur (1919), (Basilica of the Sacred Heart), is the most visible Catholic church in Paris, high on a hill in the Montmartre neighborhood. Ornate on both the outside and inside, which features Byzantine mosaics. From here, you can look down on Paris, even without climbing the dome.
