You know nothing of
Javert?

Ahh...so you have come to this holy Shrine for enlightenment? Well, you've come to the right place! But how to put into mere words the wonder and perfection that is Javert! Perhaps I should start with a simple definition, that gives no depth to our beloved hero:

Javert: A slightly obessed French inspector from Victor Hugo's novel, Les Miserables, also in the musical of the same name. Chases run away convict, Jean Valjean. Commits suicide.

But this isn't enough for you? Then you are a blessed person for wishing to obtain more knowledge. You realize that there is more to our most honorable man, and wish to see it here in words. Then read ahead:

The Honorable Javert: Chief Inspector of police, who always follows his duty down to the letter. Pursues Jean Valjean, who wrongfully broke his parole. Javert has been to known to have high sex appeal for women, and perhaps men, depending on personal preference. Fond of wearing long trenchcoats, and carrying a nightstick, which he won't hesitate to use. Also enjoys his long, fuzzy sideburns and top hat. Prone to gazing at stars and jumping into rivers. His unbending principles of justice swayed by another man's selfless mercy, he throws himself into the River Siene.

Yes...but does this truly describe what *is* Javert? No, not in the least. This is something that comes with time, it's aquired. To understand this my friends, you must hope for enlightenment. I suggest browsing around this website, reading the book, seeing the musical, joining a role playing game or two, and listening to the CDs a hundred times over, to start you on this great pilgrimage. With perserverance, hope, and daily worship at the Javert Shrine, you too shall come to this understanding.

Until then, my brothers and sisters, stay away from rivers and ex-convicts. Drop me a line, and tell me of your journey, and how you like the Javert Shrine. You shall be blessed many times over if you do. :-)
