PREFACE

Once, I happened to read a passage from a fine sort of work published by Cambridge University Press called as Words. I quote:

'One of the passages in Words! Tells us how the scholar Thomas Wade, when he set out to learn Chinese, asked a teacher "Please teach me Chinese!" He was astonished to be asked, in return : "Which Chinese is it you want to learn, Sir? There is the Chinese of the ancient classics, the Chinese of the official documents, the Chinese used in letter writing, and there is the spoken Chinese, of which there are many dialects."

The same might be said of English.

In that dictionary, you can find only the spoken language of English as in both British and American.

I met no dictionary in which both informal, slang and the idiomatic phrases are found together.

That's why I thought to compile such a dictionary.

The dictionary itself, is a real source for all the students that are indulged in the English language, esp. the spoken English, the slang and colloquial nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, interjections, and you name it all…all that are of the both British and the American people.

Indeed, it's not a dictionary only. It's a beneficial book that a person, not only a student but also a foreigner adult, can study as any lesson booklet. The reason is that all the words and phrases are explained with their usages grammatically and linguistically.

After four years of hard and determined study, I am proud to announce you the dictionary I compiled, My Dictionary ((:-))

The Dictionary of Informal, Slang and Idiomatic Phrases in Spoken English.
